DALIAN. This year’s production prospects for China are good, but so is domestic demand. Chinese importers are showing greater interest in Turkish sultanas.

Large production, good demand
While large market observers are unanimous in their production estimates for raisins (180,000-190,000 mt), opinions differ more wildly regarding the production figures in recent years (130,000-180,000 mt).

Nevertheless, Chinese traders confirm that this year’s production is larger than the last few years. They do, however, also reckon that domestic demand will rise again. A significant reduction in price is therefore not to be expected. Chinese exporters are offering sultanas, Grade AA, 2018 crop for 1,500 USD
