Sultanas: contrasting crop forecasts

… sunny weather with warm temperatures in the growing regions. During the day it gets up to 30°C, at night the temperatures drop to about 13°C. Rumour has it that this year's sultana production in Turkey is estimated at 250,000-300,000 mt. The farmers themselves, however, are not that optimistic and expect a much lower result due to the frost in spring.

TEHRAN. China is by far the most important export destination for Iran’s dried figs. Traders state that as much as 90% of the volumes shipped are destined for East Asia. The possible revival of the nuclear deal coupled with hopes of the lifting of the US sanctions on Iran have also impacted prices.
