MANISA. Growers are very much concerned over the lack of rain in Turkey. Hope is that the weather will improve in spring. Trading is rather subdued for sultanas.

Waiting for rain

Spring weather conditions are expected to stay in Manisa, daytime temperatures presently range at 17-19C (62.6-66.2F) and nighttime temperatures at 5-8C (41.0-46.4F). Problem, however, is that there has been little or no rain for weeks, which may limit water supplies. Growers hope that rain will finally arrive in March and April. If not, this will not only affect agriculture.

Trading is still rather subdued and there are only few enquiries for prompt shipments. Call offs are, however, keepig exports afloat. Type 9 sultanas are trading at TRY
