Sultanas: extreme weather shift anticipated

MANISA. After the weather turned cold over the weekend, conditions are now expected to get hot. Supplies are still available for sultanas. Exports have generated more than than USD 290 million this season so far.

Weather to turn hot

After several weeks of heavy rainfall, meteorological warnings were issued over the last weekend that nighttime temperatures would drop across the country from east to west, with potential snowfall at higher altitudes and agricultural frost risks in lowlands. Snowfall occurred at higher altitudes in eastern Turkey, but the feared agricultural frost did not happen in important farming regions such as Manisa. Growers had already taken the necessary precautions following last year’s experience.
