MANISA. The reports about disastrous crop damages in Iran have ultimately proven to be false. Meanwhile, exporters in Turkey are benefiting from lucrative Christmas sales.

 

Rumours dispelled

In early October, rumours were spread that the crop in Iran only amounted to 50,000 mt. Exporters in Iran had indeed intensified purchases in Turkey at the start of the season, but are now buying considerably less. Stock market prices are listing between 4.10-4.40 TRY/kg for type 9 and 10 sultanas. Thompson raisins are trading at 5.60-5.70 TRY/kg.
