MANISA. The official production estimates for Turkey are to be announced on Thursday along with the TMO purchasing price. Exchange rate fluctuation are, however, causing market players in Turkey concern. Traders, in addition, state that the harvest started too early.

No carry-over supplies

Traders reckon that the Minister of Agriculture will anounce a production estimate of 290,000-300,000 mt on Thursday. These figures are roughly in line with initial estimates of 300,000-320,000 mt. Traders, however, also report that the farmers started harvesting a little too early, which has led to nominal reductions in yields given the cold night temperatures throughout the summer. In some places in the Manisa, the yields only range at 450-500 kg per hectare, whereas 600 kg per hectare are normal. Carry-over stocks are, in addition, also not
