Sultanas: high humidity increases risk of disease

MANISA. Last month’s rainfall has increased the risk of disease affecting the vines this spring. Farmers are taking appropriate measures to protect the plants. Celebrations marking the end of Ramadan are keeping the market quiet.

Protective measures are advised

Sunshine and mild daytime temperatures of 14–18°C are slowly bringing the vineyards in the Turkish province of Manisa out of their winter dormancy, and farmers are getting to work. Towards the end of the week, however, with the start of Eid al-Fitr, rainfall and slightly cooler temperatures are expected.
