Sultanas: High speculative potential

MANISA. Current circumstances are offering quite a basis for speculation on the Turkish sultana market. The upcoming Sugar Feast is slowing down the market, while everyone’s attention is focused on the election weekend.

 

Above-average export prices
After the Turkish lira had managed to stabilise over the course of the past weeks, it experienced another drop at the start of the week. Despite the decline of the Turkish currency’s value, which has already lasted for three and a half months, the average export price of 1,549 USD/mt for Turkish sultanas are higher than last year’s. Since the start of the season, Turkish dried fruit suppliers have exported 225,640 sultanas, 4.2% more than at this time last year.
