MANISA. The rainfall forecast by the Turkish weather service failed to materialise. Yet precipitation is urgently needed. Prices are currently stagnant.

Too warm and too dry

What was still an advantage during the drying period is increasingly becoming a problem for Turkish sultana farmers. There has been hardly any rainfall in late summer and autumn, and temperatures have been above average for the second week in a row, reaching up to 25°C. The Turkish weather service had forecast rain, but the cloudy days remained dry. The water level in the reservoirs is alarmingly low and Turkey urgently needs rain.
