MANISA. Although the prices for prompt deliveries remain stable, the prices vary considerably for the new crop.

Prices have dropped to an eight-year low

There are considerable differences in price for sultanas, type 9, grade A with offers varying between 1,350 USD/mt and 1,500 USD/mt FOB Izmir. Market players blame big suppliers for these great differences in price alleging that they are trying to manipulate the market. The prices have dropped to an eight-year low, a few weeks in November 2014 excepting. A similar level was only reached in the summer of 2009. Some traders even reckon with an average price below 1,400 USD/mt in the new season should drying progress without problems.
