Sultanas: Rising prices fail to curb buying interest

MANISA. Turkish sultanas and raisins are in constant demand. At the same time, the Raisin Administrative Committee reports a decline in shipment for Californian raisins.

 

Shipments decline by 35%

With a total of 129,000 mt Turkey has exported a similar volume of sultanas and raisins as last year. Despite the high prices, demand is surprisingly high.

The situation is, however, different in the California. According to the Raisin Administrative Committee (RAC), only 79,000 mt of raisins were shipped at home and overseas between August and December 2018, around 35% less than in 2017 (122,000 mt).
