Sultanas: runaway prices in Turkey

MANISA. The prices for sultanas are much higher in Turkey than the prices on offer from suppliers in other countries. This price gap became particularly apparent at the Anuga. Market players, however, doubt that a price turnaround will occur.

Exports pick up

Although the exports from Turkey range considerably lower than last season, there was a notable boost last week as shipments climbed by 8,773 metric tonnes. This season's high average export price of USD 2.06 per kg has most certainly put a dent on exports. In addition, competitors in other producing countries are offering much cheaper rates.
