Sultanas: Traders looking to raise prices

MANISA. After a rather weak first quarter, Turkish sultana exports are gathering steam shortly before the end of the year.

 

Increased exports
Last week, sultana exports amounted to 6,800 mt, which brings the total export volume since the beginning of the season to 91,154 mt. The export figures were less than 4,500 mt higher at the same time last year. If this year’s crop (including surplus stocks) will total 330,000 mt, there are around 219,000 mt of Turkish sultanas left on the market for the rest of the season. Domestic supply currently amounts to 20,000 mt and the TMO has purchased 6,000 mt; however, farmers have ceased to deliver sultanas to the state for the time
