Sultanas: Unbeatable prices

MANISA. Exporters in Turkey are extremely optimistic. They claim that their prices are unbeatable and that the season could hardly be better. The guessing game for the new crop is in full swing.

 

The benchmark

Sultanas are by far the most important dried fruit for turkey. They make out 54% of all dried fruit exports. Although the market has quietened down this week, more than 106,000 mt have been shipped since the beginning of the season. This may be a nominal decline as compared to last year, but exporters in Turkey are nevertheless confident that they will have shipped 150,000 mt by March.
