Sultanas: widely diverging forecasts

MANISA. After the frosty nights in mid-April, the forecasts for Turkish sultana production in 2025 vary greatly. Growers are holding back their remaining raw material, while demand remains moderate.

Production could fall to 130,000 mt

Damage assessments in the vineyards of the Turkish province of Manisa have still not been finalised. Market players do not expect the final results of the evaluation and to what extent the frosty nights in mid-April have damaged this year's sultana production to be known until the end of May. Temperatures of around 30°C are expected again this week and it does not currently look as if further damaging weather events are to be expected.
