Sultanas: Worldwide decline in production expected

MANISA. Last week, during the INC World Nut and Dried Fruit Congress, production estimates for the worldwide production of dried grapes were announced. The forecasts for Turkey, however, do not match the expectations of many market participants.

Forecasts for the 2019/20 season
In the 2019/20 season, almost 1.24 million mt of sultanas and other dried grapes are to be produced worldwide, which would be a decrease of 3.3% compared to this season. And although the USA is currently forecasting end-of-season stocks of 105,000 mt, it is estimated that only 1.37 million mt of dried grapes will be available in the coming season, around 51,000 mt less than in 2018/19.
