SOFIA/KYIV. Any decisions over an extension of the EU import ban are still to be made and Ukraine is far from happy with the fact that some EU member states intend to introduce their own restrictions.

In how far the import ban for Ukrainian grains and sunflower seeds will be extended beyond 15 September is still open. The member states in which the ban applies will hardly issue a unified decision. Poland has, for instance, announced that restrictions will remain in place for cheap grain imports to protect local farmers, even without an official EU Commission decision.
