SOFIA/KYIV. Not a single month has passed this year without the European Commission revising its crop estimates for the 2025/26 season downwards. This is also the case in the latest report.

Production growth of 3% expected

Once again, the European Commission has revised its production estimates for the EU sunflower seed crop downwards in its latest crop report. Compared to the August report, estimates for Hungary and France have been lowered by around 3% each, while Romanian sunflower seed production is expected to be 1% lower than previously assumed. In contrast, the estimate for the German crop has been increased by 11.9%. As a result, according to current estimates, 8.538 million mt have been harvested across the EU, which is just 3% more than last
