Sunflower seeds: experts raise crop forecasts

SOFIA/BRUSSELS. This week, the experts at Coceral published their updated forecast for the EU sunflower seed production.

After the European Commission's current estimates of 10.87 million mt were significantly more positive than last year's result, Coceral has also revised its forecasts upwards compared to the March report. The experts expect EU-wide sunflower seed production of 10.06 million mt; in March the forecast was more modest at 9.88 million mt. According to the experts, Romania can expect a crop of 2.62 million mt this year, which would be 10% more than last year.
