SOFIA. Farmgate prices continue to rise. Meanwhile, the weather forecast is highly encouraging for the sunflower seed production in Bulgaria.

Limited offers

As is the case in the Ukraine, the farmgate prices are pursuing a continuous upward trend in Bulgaria. Black in shells with a 96% purity are currently trading at EUR 353 per metric tonne CPT Varna. Bakery kernels are trading in a range of EUR 0.74-0.77 per kg DDP Germany. Although demand is more subdued after Easter, the suppliers are still busy. Traders also report that some factories have closed for safety reasons and the coronavirus-related shift work has slowed down processing in some plants. This situation has rendered it diffiuclt for some interested buyers to obtain offers. Exporters are, in addition, holding back with spot offers in the run up to the orthodox Easter holidays.
