SOFIA/KYIV. The announced stop of Russian gas supplies to Bulgaria is now hovering ominously over the sunflower seed market. Ukraine is still ensuring sufficient availability of raw kernels. Despite all this, Chinese sunflower seeds can hardly keep up in terms of price.

Slight price corrections in Bulgaria

On Wednesday night, Russia announced to stop gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria with immediate effect. Bulgarian market players confirm that many hullers and oil mills are dependent on these energy deliveries, but that it is too early to assess the effects in detail. It is important not to panic now, even if this news adds fuel to the fire of blazing inflation.
