Sunflower seeds: price adjustments before the turn of the year

SOFIA/KYIV. Shortly before the holidays, demand in the Eastern European sunflower seed market remains moderate and traders adjust their offers to the situation.

Harvest in Ukraine still not completed

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture, the sunflower seed harvest is still not completed. So far, farmers have harvested 4.6 million ha, which is 98% of the sown area. With an average yield of 2.18 mt/ha, the production so far amounts to about 10 million mt of sunflower seeds.

Meanwhile, the prices for Eastern European sunflower seeds continue to decline due to the persistently low demand. Commodity prices for unhulled kernels are around EUR 0.53-0.56/kg CPT Varna, while bakery kernels have once again
