Sunflower seeds: production target within reach

SOFIA/KYIV. Market player still report low buying interest. Measured against the current situation, however, sunflower seed prices are at a comparatively favourable level, which is why traders do not expect any major price corrections for the time being.

French crop might be smaller than expected

In Ukraine, the sunflower seed harvest is coming to an end. Against all odds, farmers have so far been able to harvest 87% of the sown area, or about 4.1 million ha, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy. With an average yield of 2.2 mt/ha, the current result is 9 million mt. The forecasts of various analysts and market experts (USDA, APK-Inform, etc.) spoke of a total production of 9.0-10.5 million mt in 2022.
