SOFIA. Low demand and stable prices dominate the Bulgarian sunflower seed market. The smaller crops in many growing countries are also having an impact on EU imports.

Positive price expectations

The Bulgarian sunflower seed market is traditionally quiet in January. As usual, market players report low demand at this time of year and prices remain at the same level as in previous weeks. Buyers and sellers alike are waiting to see how the coming weeks develop and what preparations farmers make for sowing for the 2025 crop. Traders are currently reckoning that prices for sunflower seeds from the 2025/2026 season are likely to be below the current offers.
