Indian Continue to Import Sunflower Oil from Ukrain

Sunflower yields 14 million tons in Ukraine in 2017-18

Mumbai: Sunflower seed production in Ukraine is expected to be 13.5-14.0 million tonnes during the year 2017-18 (August-July). This year, the production of last year will be less than 1.5 Million tonnes due to the weather not being proper in Sunflower-producing areas.

An official of the company Delta Wilmer CIS Ltd of Ukraine said that in most areas producing sunflowers this year has reduced the rain and the weather is hot. Let Ukraine know that Ukraine is the most sunflower country in the world and India is importing sunflower oil.

Ukraine's one oilseed company's official says that in Ukraine last year, record production of 15 million tonnes of sunflowers took place. These days sunflowers are being harvested and 15% of the harvesting work has been completed. Sunflower stock is negligible in the crop year ending August 31, 2017, but stock of Sunflower oil is about one million tons. Production of sunflower oil in 2017-18 is estimated to be close to 5.8 million tonnes, which will be less than the previous season. Sunflower oil production in Ukraine last season was 6.3 million tonnes.

India is expected to Import 2.5 million tonnes of sunflower oil in the year 2017-18 from Ukraine. This export was 2.2 million tonnes a year ago, while in the year 2015-16, the export is 1.6 million tonnes.

The price of Ukraine's sunflower oil is $780 per tonne, which is expected to increase by about $ 2.5 a ton in the coming months due to rising demand of India and low crop yield in Ukraine. Explain that the import duty on Sunflower Oil in India could be lower due to lower import duty than soya oil.
