Procurement for rice set higher.

Higher rice procurement fixed for this year at 37.5 million tons adding hopes to millions of rice farmers. 

If we see the target for this year 2016-17 was 33 million tonnes and we have already surpasses the target and made it up to 34.35 million tonnes. One of the reasons for a high target is that the farmers have already sown rice for this season is higher compared to previous season.

The target for this year was set higher and also the target of procurement from each major state for paddy fields has been set as follows:

The rice is procured by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and the minimum price or the MSP for the 2017-18 for common crop will be $24.16 for a quintal and for a better quality – ‘A’ grade it will $24.74 per quintal of rice.
