Walnuts: US exports to Europe slump

SACRAMENTO. While US walnut exports are going well overall, shipments to Europe shrank significantly compared to last year.

Europe reduces imports by 14%

In the first three months of the 2020/2021 walnut season, the US delievered a total of 151,756 mt of shelled and unshelled walnuts domestically and overseas, up 15% from last year. During this period, exports amounted to 118,519 mt (+16%) and domestic consumption achieved a 10% increase and reached 33,237 mt. The decline in export volumes to the EU and Central and South America was offset by the significant increase in exports to the Asian and African regions.
