Walnuts: November deliveries have declined significantly

SANTIAGO. Walnut exports from Chile slumped in November 2019 compared to the same period last year.

Monthly comparison shows 14% decline

Last month, 3,192 metric tonnes of walnuts with and without shells were exported from Chile, a decline of 14% compared to the same month last year (Nov. 2018: 3,721 metric tonnes). Out of this, 1,607 metric tonnes, which means about half of the deliveries, were shipped to Europe. In the same period of last year, however, they still ranged at 1,948 metric tonnes. In total, exporters have achieved an export volume of 100,156 metric tonnes (+15%) since the beginning of the season. In the European spot market, prices for Chilean walnuts in shell, Chandler, >30 mm are quoted at a level of EUR 2.80-2.90 per kg FCA Spain.
