SANTIAGO. Demand for Chilean walnuts is clearly up this season. Yet, inshell exports to India are down. EU spending on shelled walnuts is unprecedented.

Dent in inshell exports to India

October was a highly successful month for Chile as inshell exports surged by 35% to 9,123 mt and shelled walnut exports by 55% to 5,603 mt as compared with October last year according to ChileNut. Total inshell exports rose by 29% between March and October 2025 as compared with the same period last year.

By contrast, exports to Turkey have risen by 63% and have soared more than tenfold to the United Arab Emirates. The Middle East and Africa are, in fact, sporting a more than 100% uprise to 32,785 mt in shipments from Chile this season so far.
