SACRAMENTO. The Almond Board of California has issued the export report for April. Although exports have increased on a month-to-month basis, things look different as compared with last year.

Stocks are as low as 172,438 mt

So far, around 1.028 million mt of almonds have been registered in California for 2018/19, as little as 0.3% more than last year around this time. Coupled with the carry over stock from 2017/18, this season’s total supplies amounted to 1.17 million mt (-1.2%). This year there are, however, significantly higher volumes in contracts already bound in contracts than last year. Current estimates state that only 172,438 mt of US almonds are still available on the free market, almost 15% less than last year around this time.
