Almonds: Have market participants overreacted?

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. The reports on the state of the Spanish almond crop in 2019 could hardly be more different. Already in 2018, the frost damage presented as massive had virtually no negative consequences for the production.

Suppliers take advantage of Ramadan demand
While the Spanish agricultural news services still talk about which regions are affected by frost and that the crop there is suffering, some market participants have made their own picture of the situation.

Traders report that the frost damage in the regions they visited has been only moderate and have lowered their prices for prompt deliveries again. Spanish almonds are therefore available again and are 10-15 cents/kg below the price indications of the previous week. The Spanish almond traders are particularly interes
