MADRID/SACRAMENTO. March was the time to sell for producers in Spain. Some have, however, missed the opportunity and are now confronted with a different market situation.

 

Prices continue to decline in Spain.

Frost and low crop estimates in California drove up prices for Spanish almonds in March. This in turn offered attractive business opportunities for producers in Spain. On the other hand, others failed to make use of this opportunity and now have to settle for lower prices. The weather in California is about as conductive to good growing as it gets, and a normal production is expected this year.
