Almonds: Production exceeds expectations

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. This year is turning out to be a very good year in terms of production, not only in Spain and California. The INC has revised its global production estimates upwards by 6.6%.

 

Production set to reach 1.35 million mt

In its current report, the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) has revised this year’s global production estimates upwards to 1.345 million mt. This is a 6.6% increase over 2017/18 (1.26 million mt). Previous estimates stood at 1.29 million mt. Both Spain and the US are reckoning with a bumper crop this year, which will increase the pressure on prices.
