SACRAMENTO. While US almond shipments declined in April, the production estimates for 2020 differ widely.

Up to 17% more US almonds expected

Production estimates currently vary between 1.23 million metric tonnes (NASS) and 1.34 million metric tonnes (TNT) depending on source. In any case, there is a general agreement that production is to set a new record. This year's production is expected to rise by 7%-17%, over last year (2019/2020: 1.15 million mt). Given that this year's carry-overs should range higher than last year, supplies should be abundant in 2020/2021. Traders have already gone down in price for the new crop.
