Almonds: Suppliers must stretch their stocks

SACRAMENTO. The Almond Board of California has released its final export report for the US Almond Season 2017/18. Overall, exports increased by 6.5% compared to the previous season.

In the US domestic market, the consumption figures even increased by 8.7%, meaning that total deliveries of the past twelve months were 1.021 million mt - which is an increase of 7.2% compared to 2016/17. 

End of the export season
Despite the significant increase in demand overall, export deliveries in the last few months of the 2017/18 season were much lower than in the previous year. China imported about 2,156 mt of almonds in July 2018, while the seasonal average was 6,418 mt per month. In comparison, deliveries to EU countries such as Spain (6,393 mt v
