ANKARA/PRAGUE. Czech poppy seed exports declined significantly in December, wiping out the year-on-year lead. In Turkey, the situation is relaxed and price corrections are taking place.

Downward trend in Turkey

Little activity in the blue poppy seed market causes prices to decline. In Turkey, prices have recently decreased and are at USD 2,950/mt CFR EMP for conventional blue poppy seeds. Meanwhile, organic blue poppy seeds are offered at a level of USD 3,750/mt CFR EMP. Market players report moderate demand versus sufficient availability. However, it cannot be ruled out that freight costs will continue to rise in the near future.
