CHRUDIM. Even if there are no signs of sizeable price fluctuations yet, the frosty temperatures in the next few days could bring a turnaround.

The calm before the storm?

In recent weeks, the blue poppy seed prices on the Czech market were largely stable. While prices remained stable in the origin, exchange rate fluctuations caused a slight price increase for buyers from the Euro zone.

Fear of losses

Weather predictions for the next few days are less encouraging, since frost is in the forecast. Negative effects on the development of the poppy plants or even crop losses cannot be ruled out. Losses would hit the market particularly hard, as the acreage appears to be smaller than last year. The farmers would then surely have fewer problems with imposing their higher price expectations.
