CHRUDIM. Farmers are really happy with the weather conditions in the Czech Republic. The plants are doing very well and the quality and size of crop is expected to be good for blue poppy seeds.

No damages so far

Traders have confirmed that the area sown with poppy seeds is much bigger than last year, according to estimates by around 33%. This season's high prices have rendered poppy seeds much more attractive again for farmers. In addition, the current weather conditions could hardly be any better. Sufficient rain and not too hot temperatures are providing ideal growing conditions for the plants and no damages have been reported so far.

Prices still high

Harvesting is just about to start and the first volumes should arrive
