Blue poppy seeds: new production estimates issued

CHRUDIM/BUDAPEST. The Czech Statistical Office has issued new production estimates for poppy seeds. Prospects are highly encouraging here. Production is also being assessed in Hungary.

Larger area sown in Czech Republic 

Although some farmers have already started harvesting blue poppy seeds, this is the noted exception. Harvesting will mainly be underway next week, which marks the latest start in recent years. Trading is largely subdued. Demand for last year's crop is restricted, whereas the first enquiries for the new crop are being issued.
