Blue poppy seeds: many questions without answers

ANKARA/CHRUDIM. The Turkish blue poppy market is quiet, which is also reflected in prices. Czech market players, however, are plagued by uncertainties. Meanwhile, Germany's imports declined markedly year-on-year.

Uncertainty remains

In contrast to other oilseeds, the blue poppy seed market is hardly affected by current events. Only the Czech market could face interesting developments, as Russia is the most important export destination. This is causing uncertainty among market players. However, prices are still relatively stable. It is questionable how long this will last, because the cultivation forecasts for the coming 2022/2023 season are not particularly rosy.
