PRAGUE. Traders in the Czech Republic reckon that the blue poppy seed market is starting to revive. Limited capacities, however, prevail for transports. High prices and delaying tactics have certainly put off buyers in Germany.

Wide price gaps

Traders in the Czech Republic report that more enquiries are being issued for blue poppy seeds again. Although offers are circulating and supplies are available, prices have drifted as far apart as EUR 1.95-2.04/kg FCA Czech Republic, transport capacities are, in addition, much more limited than last year. Market players expect the area sown to be similar in size to last year as based on the sales figures for seeds for sowing.
