Cashews: export prices hit record low

HANOI. Export prices in Vietnam have reached such a low level that many processors have had to close down their factories. Other producing countries are also affected.

Production costs are not covered

As the import-export department of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade announced, the export price for cashews has reached a new low, which is hitting many processors hard. Imports of RCN from Africa have been temporarily suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic and and are still causing difficulties. Compared to last month, the average export price fell by 6% to 5,805 USD/mt in July 2020 and was therefore even 14.8% lower than in July 2019.
