HANOI. In the first eleven months of the year, Vietnam imported nearly 17% less RCN than in the same period last year. The shortage of raw nuts could motivate speculators to buy.

RCN imports down

Vietnam imported about 73,000 mt of raw cashew nuts worth USD 87 million in November. This brings total imports in the first eleven months of 2020 to 1.27 million mt, valued at USD 1.56 billion. Compared to the same period in 2019, this represents a drop in volume of almost 17%, according to the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas). Most of the RCN were imported from Cambodia, Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire, according to the Ministry of Agricultural Processing and Market Development.
