Cashews: Vietnam's producers lose out

HANOI. New statistics show that Vietnam's export volume increased by 11% in the first half of 2021, while the export value did not even increase by 1.5%. According to experts, this is because other parts of the value chain are making the real gains.

High demand and a lack of RCN

Vietnam's General Department of Customs announced that the country exported a total of 273,000 mt of cashew kernels in the first six months of 2021, reaching a turnover of USD 1.64 billion. This represents an 11% increase in volume compared to the same period in 2020, while the export value only increased by 1.4%.
