NEW DELHI/OTTAWA. Following a period of weakness, the Indian chickpea market is now showing signs of recovery, particularly as current arrivals are barely sufficient to meet demand. In Canada, trade could do with a bit more momentum.

Market situation stabilises

After months of sluggish trade, weighed down by high carry-over stocks, the Indian chickpea market is now showing clear signs of firming up. While the peak harvest is underway, daily arrivals in key markets remain comparatively low and are insufficient to meet current consumption.
