NEW DELHI/OTTAWA. Following last week's decline, prices on the Indian chickpea market are now firmer. Trade in Canada is currently rather sluggish.

Market stabilisation after price decline

The chickpea market is showing signs of stabilisation after a decline in prices. In Maharashtra, prices for unhulled goods are currently between USD 0.66 and 0.69/kg. The previous weakness was mainly due to low demand. Traders now reckon that the price has bottomed out and that further downside potential remains limited.
