NEW DELHI/OTTAWA. The Indian wedding season has begun and is stabilising chickpea prices. Overall, the market seems to be easing. Buying interest is also increasing in Canada.

Sentiment is improving

The mood on the Indian chickpea market has improved in recent weeks. The new crop from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka is now steadily reaching the markets and although production has been consistently strong, the market is showing signs of stability rather than further decline. Although prices are still under pressure due to oversupply, market experts believe that the risk of drastic price falls is currently low. Compared to last week, there was only a nominal price drop of USD 10/mt.
