Dates: EU increases imports to almost 66,000 mt

CAIRO/TEHRAN. With a market share of 40%, Egypt is the most important supplier of dates to Vietnam. But the competition is fierce. In addition to the familiar competitors, new opponents have entered the market this season. The EU has increased its date imports from Egypt by almost 20% this year.

Competition for Egypt

According to reports from the news service EastFruit, Egypt has increased its date exports to Vietnam for the third year in a row. Between July 2024 and February 2025, the country exported 365 mt of dates worth USD 194,000 to Vietnam, a 50% year-on-year increase in export volume. Vietnam offers a lot of potential as a market for Egyptian dates, but the majority of shipments are made to Morocco and Indonesia.
