Dried apricots: alternatives are hard to find

MALATYA. Many buyers are reluctant to purchase dried apricots from sources other than Turkey, even though they have little choice after the total failure of the Turkish crop. However, prices are also rising sharply in other producing countries.

Buyers are hesitant

The Turkish weather institute has again forecast high temperatures in Malatya for this week, ranging between 16 and 19°C at night and between 33 and 38°C during the day. Market players are still trying to compensate somewhat for the total loss of this year's Turkish apricot crop. The most logical solution for buyers would be to purchase apricots from other countries of origin, but most are reluctant to do so as this change would mean losses such as lower quality.
