Dried apricots: cold causes prices to rise

MALATYA. The cold temperatures in Turkey mean that fewer goods are reaching the local markets, which is driving up prices. Exporters are extremely optimistic about the coming months.

Further price increases possible

Temperatures in Malatya are currently around 16°C during the day and 2°C at night. As this is relatively cold by local standards, farmers are bringing less goods from their villages to the markets, resulting in lower availability and therefore higher prices. Market players indicate that this situation is likely to continue for the next few weeks and could lead to further price increases for both raw materials and exports. Sulphured dried apricots, Jumbo currently cost TRY 155-165/kg, no 1 and no 2 are around TRY 145-160/kg. T
